When ten computers need an IT plan

Once a team grows beyond a handful of devices, reliable IT takes more than fixing the next broken laptop.

A ten-person team can run surprisingly complex technology: laptops, shared documents, email, phones, line-of-business software, printers, and a network that holds it all together. When one piece fails, the cost is measured in missed calls, delayed work, and frustrated clients.

Start with an inventory

List the devices your team uses, who owns them, their age, and the systems they can access. Include shared equipment such as wireless access points, firewalls, cameras, and conference room devices. You cannot maintain or protect what you cannot identify.

Set a standard for the everyday

Decide what a new employee receives on day one: a supported computer, the right accounts, multifactor authentication, and access to the tools their role needs. Standard devices and setup make support faster and reduce one-off problems.

Then set a routine for updates, health checks, and replacing aging equipment. A planned replacement is easier to schedule than an emergency purchase in the middle of a client deadline.

Give someone the full picture

An IT partner should know the people, applications, and vendors behind your workflow. That context helps them connect a slow workstation to a storage issue, or a recurring login complaint to an access problem. Ask who owns documentation, how requests are prioritized, and what happens when a vendor points the finger at another vendor.

The goal is simple: your team spends less time working around technology and more time serving clients. If your office has ten or more computers and support still starts only when something breaks, it is time to put a practical plan on paper.
